The
Nieman Foundation awards fellowships annually to a select group
of 12 U.S. and 12 international journalists for a year of study
at Harvard University. Fellows audit courses of their choosing.
All schools and departments of the University are open to them.
They also participate in a seminar series sponsored by the Nieman
Foundation.
Through
funding provided by the V. Kann Rasmussen Foundation, Environmental
Nieman Fellowships were awarded to 10 journalists specializing in
reporting on the environment. They participated in the program between
academic years 1994-95 and 1999-2000. Environmental Fellows included
print and broadcast journalists from Canada, China, the Czech Republic,
India, Poland, Romania and the United States. Through
their Fellowships, they returned to their careers with a deeper
and broader understanding of environmental issues and of the role
of journalism.
