E/The Environmental Magazine

E/The Environmental Magazine premiered in 1990 in response to growing public concern for the environment in the wake of the infamous Exxon Valdez oil spill, and on the eve of the 20th anniversary of the first Earth Day.

E is a “clearinghouse” of information, news and resources for people concerned about the environment who want to know what they can do to make a difference. E covers everything environmental from recycling to rainforests, and from the “personal to the political.” E covers the “big” issues, like global warming, the state of our oceans, and the impacts of our growing population—all with contact information so readers can plug into efforts to turn the tide.

With support from the V. Kann Rasmussen Foundation, E has published a special issue on the growing movement for Socially Responsible Investing, which in large part aims to promote environmental sustainability. The Foundation has also provided funding for a special issue on Conservation Medicine: Where the Environment Meets Public Health, to be published in late 2004. The Foundation also supports the expansion of E's program to circulate their articles to smaller newspapers throughout the United States.
