Grist Magazine

The online environmental magazine Grist was established in 1999 with the mission of publishing environmental news, analysis and opinion, spiked with a sense of humor and designed to motivate readers to protect the environment. The magazine is available free of charge and covers topics ranging from Beltway politics to grassroots activism, environmental justice to endangered species, local polluters to global climate change. Its exacting journalistic standards, thoughtful perspective, offbeat voice, and stable of top-notch thinkers and writers make Grist one of the most entertaining and credible sources of environmental news available today.

Grist Magazine has received funding from the V. Kann Rasmussen Foundation to facilitate its transition to independent nonprofit status, stabilize its current product, and expand both its coverage and readership. Having achieved the first two goals, Grist is currently focusing on reaching out to new audiences, including the university community, young adults in their 20s, and professional environmental activists.
