There are presently six trustees of the Foundation, five of whom are members of the Kann Rasmussen family: Hans Kann Rasmussen, Chair of the Board, and Anne-Margrete Ogstrup-Pedersen, are children of Villum Kann Rasmussen. Kristian Kann Rasmussen, Julie Kann Wilson, and Astrid Kann-Rasmussen, are grandchildren.

Dr. Lois E.H. Smith, serves both as Trustee and Managing Director of the Foundation. Dr. Smith also serves as Executive Director of the VKRF Eye Research Collaborative, and is a Professor at Harvard Medical School and Childrens Hospital Boston.

Irene Krarup former Vice Consul and Cultural Affairs Attaché of Denmark to the United States, serves as Associate Director of the Foundation and is responsible for the daily operations of the VKRF office in New York.

The Foundation is a member of the Council on Foundations and subscribes to its Recommended Principles and Practices for Effective Grantmaking. The Foundation is also a member of the Environmental Grantmakers Association, the Consultative Group on Biological Diversity, and the Southeastern Council of Foundations. We express appreciation to the many foundations and associations with which we collaborate, and from which we learn so much.
