Energy Future Coalition

The Energy Future Coalition, a project of the Better World Fund, is a non-partisan, foundation-supported policy initiative that aims to develop broadly supported solutions to three interrelated energy challenges:

  • The security threat posed by the world’s dependence on oil.

  • The danger to the global environment from climate change.

  • The lack of access of 2 billion of the world's poor to the modern energy services they need for advancement.

National security, economic opportunity, human health, and the world’s climate all will be enhanced by a shift to a new energy economy that emphasizes highly efficient use of clean energy technologies relying on indigenous resources.

The Energy Future Coalition is working to speed this transition by assembling a diverse stakeholder partnership that can break through the political gridlock on energy in the United States. These non-traditional allies have been drawn from businesses, labor, and agriculture, in addition to the NGO community.

Funding from the V. Kann Rasmussen Foundation has enabled the Coalition and its partners to identify innovative policy options that advance a compelling vision of the economic opportunities created by the deployment of new energy technologies, supported by enabling public policy. The Coalition works at the state and national levels to call attention to the benefits of this new energy future.
