The Center for Economy, Environment and Society (CEES) at Columbia University provides an institutional home for a range of research, education, and outreach services to the University on topics connecting economics and the environment. Its mission is to enhance and solidify Columbia's capacity and reputation as a world-class center of scholarship in environmental economics, business and finance. To that end, it supports research in environmental economics by affiliated faculty and other scholars; develops and supports teaching programs in environmental economics; and serves as a resource for Columbia students and scholars with interests in the intersection of economics and environmental sciences.

With the support of the Foundation, CEES has been working with teams in Papua New Guinea and the Dominican Republic to define a strategy to simultaneously achieve strong economic growth and sustainable management of the country’s wealth of natural resources.
